List of generally sworn interpreters and appointed translators Entry

Interpreters are generally sworn in for the territory of the Land of Lower Saxony for language transmission for judicial, official and notarial purposes and translators are authorised. The activities of the interpreters include the oral and written transmission, which the translators in principle only transmit in writing of a language.

A directory is kept through the generally sworn interpreters and the authorized translators, which can be viewed by the Lower Saxony courts and authorities as well as by notaries with their registered office in Lower Saxony.


Interpreters are generally sworn in and authorised for the purpose of language transmission for judicial, official and notarial purposes for the territory of the State of Lower Saxony. The work of interpreters includes oral and written transmission, while that of translators generally only includes the written transmission of a language.

A register is kept of the generally sworn interpreters and the authorised translators, which can be viewed by courts and authorities as well as by notaries.

The same applies to any remuneration agreement concluded in accordance with § 14 of the Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act (JVEG).

The directory shall be published on the Internet.

For Lower Saxony, the entries in the directory are published by the Hanover Regional Court on the Internet. Excluded from this are the information on any remuneration agreement: Whether it exists or does not exist will not be published or discontinued in any case.

In all other respects, only those data will be made known for the publication or employment of which the interpreter or the translator has given his or her written consent.
