Licence for the carriage of letters: grant

If you want to transport letters with a single weight of no more than 1,000 grams commercially for others, you need a permit (license).

The licence shall be refused if facts justify the assumption that:

  • the applicant does not have the necessary capacity, reliability or expertise to exercise the licence rights;
  • the commencement of a licensed activity would jeopardise public security or public order,
  • the applicant does not insignificantly underperform the essential working conditions which are common in the licensed sector.

A license does not require who

  • mailings as a vicarious agent of the person who has been granted a permit in accordance with Section 5 paragraph 1 of the Postal Act (PostG),
  • which is accompanied by a letter attached to another consignment and which relate exclusively to its content;
  • mail in such a way that individual proven consignments are carried out in the interests of a fast and reliable
  • Carriage on the way from the sender to the recipient is constantly accompanied and the accompanying person has the possibility to access the individual shipment at any time and to meet the necessary dispositions (courier service).
