Exhaust gas testing: acceptance

In order to ensure that the exhaust emissions of a vehicle remain within the specified emission and pollutant standard, vehicle owners are obliged to regularly subject their vehicle (all vehicles with spark ignition engines except motorcycles) to an exhaust gas test (AU).
An expert will make a measurement on your vehicle.

Since 1 January 2010, there has been no independent exhaust gas test. The environmental impact assessment, which will take its place, is an independent part of the main investigation (HU).

Since 1 January 2010, the AU badges have also been omitted, and only the HU badges on the rear vehicle registration plate are available. Remaining AU badges will be removed by the testing centres at the next main inspection. If scratch marks or adhesive residues remain on the license plate after removal, these can be glued over by the inspector with a repair badge (blank plate in the white color of the carrier plate).

The exhaust gas test certificate on the protocol is an octagonal plaque with the year of implementation of the AU. In addition, this badge is embossed with pliers of the control number of the AU workshop.

In the case of motorcycles, the exhaust gas test (here: AUK) has been part of the main inspection since April 2006 and is documented by the round TÜV badge.
