Declaration online to customs for cross-border dispatch of goods via the Union transit procedure

In order to handle the commercial movement of goods with non-EU countries largely automatically, the customs administration has introduced the IT procedure ATLAS (Automated Tariff and Local Customs Settlement System) nationwide. Atlas handles and monitors the cross-border movement of goods.

Under the Union transit procedure, goods may be moved between 2 points within the customs territory of the Union under customs supervision without being subject to import duties during the transit procedure.

To make it easier for you to transfer your goods to the Union transit procedure via ATLAS, German customs has set up an Internet platform. With this you can store the data of your customs declaration and transmit it to the customs administration.

However, you must note that your customs declaration will only become legally effective if you have printed it out and signed it at the responsible customs office – in addition to the Internet transit declaration.
