Day care for those with statutory long-term care insurance

Day care is intended to support home care. You can make use of day care services if home care cannot be provided to a sufficient extent or if this is necessary to complement or strengthen home care.

Day care is usually used by people in need of care whose relatives work during the day. Those in need of care are usually picked up in the morning and brought back home in the afternoon.

Within the limits of the maximum benefit amounts, the long-term care insurance fund covers the care-related expenses, including the expenses for care, and the expenses for the medical treatment care services necessary in the facility. The costs for accommodation and meals as well as separately calculable investment costs, on the other hand, must generally be borne privately.

The maximum benefit amount for includes monthly

• at care level 2: 689 euros,
• for care level 3: 1,298 euros,
• at care level 4: 1,612 euros and
• at care level 5: 1,995 euros.

People with care level 1 can use their relief contribution (up to 125 euros) for day care.

Semi-inpatient care also includes the necessary transport of those in need of care from the home to the day care facility and back.

Persons in need of care in care levels 2 to 5 can make use of semi-inpatient day and night care in addition to outpatient care benefits in kind, care allowance or the combined benefit according to § 38 without being credited against these claims.
