Education and tasks of the hunting cooperative

The hunting cooperative is formed by the owners of the land belonging to a common hunting district. A common hunting district is formed by all the base areas of a municipality, town or separate area which do not belong to a self-hunting district. Property of the same person with a contiguous area of at least 75 ha forms a self-hunting district and does not belong to the hunting cooperative. According to Section 12 of the Lower Saxony Hunting Act (NJAgdG), the hunting district of the hunting cooperative must have at least 250 ha of contiguous area. Membership is linked to real estate and is created by force law.

According to Section 16 of the NJagdG, the Hunting Cooperative constitutes a public law corporation. It is under the supervision of the county or the county-free city.
The hunting cooperative elects a hunting board, which represents the hunting cooperative in court and out of court. Decisions and decisions of the Hunting Companions' Assembly are taken by voting, with a majority of persons and the area being decisive.

The conditions of the hunting cooperative are regulated in a statute and can be viewed there.

Tasks of a hunting cooperative:

  • Decision on the type of hunting use
  • Decision on the nature of the lease (e.g. public offering, hands-free award) and the selection of the tenant
  • Design of the hunting lease
  • Annual shooting planning in agreement with the district, the district-free city and the hunting advisory board (Section 21, 25 NJagdG)
  • Decision on the use of the net yield of hunting use
  • Replacing wildlife damage in agriculture and forestry
