Nature reserve: fixing

The nature reserve is a form of territorial protection and is the oldest and most well-known instrument of nature conservation.

A nature reserve may be designated as sites of importance for the conservation, development or restoration of flora and fauna, as well as their habitats or communities. Nature reserves can also be designated if areas are worth protecting for scientific, natural history or historical reasons or because of their rarity, special peculiarity or outstanding beauty.

Nature reserves are designated by a legal regulation of the competent authority. This regulation contains the description of the area and its purpose of protection, as well as the regulations necessary to achieve the purpose of protection. The demarcation of the nature reserve is shown in an accompanying map.

Information on nature reserves and acts subject to authorisation shall be provided by the competent authority.
