Vegetable waste disposal by incineration
The open incineration of vegetable waste is authorised for the purpose of disposal outside approved installations as follows:
- Authorisation in individual cases upon application to the competent authority, or
- general authorisation following notification to the competent body of vegetable waste or parts of plants containing harmful organisms

Requirements
- The vegetable waste has been generated in the context of the maintenance and management of vegetated areas and
- are burned on the property where they were produced,
- the welfare of the general public and the neighbourhood are not impaired and
- there is no ban on burning.
Additional requirements for admission in individual cases:
Recycling and transfer to the public waste disposal authority are not technically possible or cannot be expected economically.
Additional requirement for general admission:
Vegetable waste consists of plants or parts of plants with harmful organisms specified in the Annex to the Plant Waste Ordinance (PflAbfVO).
Which documents are required?
The application or notification must be accompanied by proof that the requirements are met. Please contact the competent authority.
What are the fees?
The amount of the fee depends on the administrative burden.
Admission on a case-by-case basis
Fee: at least 36,00 Euro
Notification in the event of a general admission
Fee: at least 24,00 Euro
Process flow
Admission in individual cases requires an informal application. The competent authority examines the application and decides on it by individual decision.
General admission requires timely notification. The competent authority checks whether the conditions (infestation with harmful organisms) are met.
After expiry of the notification period, incineration is permitted, unless the competent authority has made a different decision by then.

Notification in the event of a general admission
Notification deadline: 6 working days before the day of the planned burning
Notification of a general authorisation for harmful organisms in accordance with No. 2 Annex to the Plant Waste Ordinance (PflAbfVO)
Notification deadline: 2 working days before the day of the planned burning
After expiry of the notification period, incineration is permitted, unless the competent authority has made a different decision by then.
What else should I know?
Waste, including vegetable waste, e.g. from the garden, must be recovered as a matter of priority. Please note the information in the "Garden waste disposal" service.
