Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Applications / forms

Which documents are required?

  • Current identity card or passport with confirmation of registration - not older than 3 months
  • Registration certificate part I
  • Test report of the last valid general inspection (HU); not applicable for vehicles in accordance with § 29 Paragraph 10 of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) ,
    • whose first general inspection was not yet due or
    • for which the due date of the next general inspection is evident to the competent authority from another official document
  • Previous license plates for de-stamping

In the case of completion by a third party, additionally

  • informal, written authorization from the person making the application and identity card of the person for whom the vehicle is to be registered

For companies additionally:

  • Extract from the trade register or commercial register
  • the identification documents of the person responsible and authorized to sign (managing director, authorized signatory) and their power of attorney
