Registering your main residence
The new Federal Registration Act comes into force on November 1, 2015.
Anyone moving into an apartment must register with the relevant authority within two weeks.
Comply with your registration obligation to avoid unnecessary problems and hassle. Failure to comply with the obligation to register can lead to problems with vehicle registration, obtaining a driving license or applying for a certificate of good conduct.
You will also need to change your identity card and, if necessary, your vehicle registration document.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the municipality, the Joint Community and the city to which you have moved.
