State-owned land, real estate and objects: sale/auction
Citizens and companies can acquire land and real estate that the country no longer needs to fulfil its tasks.
In addition, the items received by the country through inheritances, such as crockery, jewellery or motor vehicles, are auctioned off to the highest bidder. This also applies to the land and real estate transferred to the Land from estates.
These inheritances ("fiscal inheritances") arise when there are no other heirs or the existing heirs renounce the inheritance.
Who should I contact?
The real estate (land and real estate) owned by the State of Lower Saxony is managed by the Landesliegenschaftsfonds Niedersachsen (LFN), which is part of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Finance. The LFN has the task of covering the real estate needs of the state and preserving the real estate assets of the state. The LFN also performs all tasks of the country related to fiscal inheritances.
Contact persons for sales and auctions can be found on the LFN website (www.immobilien.niedersachsen.de) under "Real estate offers" or "Inheritances of the treasury".
Legal basis
From a legal point of view, the LFN is a special fund according to § 26 of the State Budget Code (LHO).
