Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Senior citizens' and nursing homes in Lower Saxony

Since 01.01.2014 there has been a new senior policy advisory structure in Lower Saxony.

The new counselling centres not only replace the previous form of senior citizens' service offices, but they also introduce the field of activity of the care support points (PSP) into the counselling centres. As a result, the coexistence of the above-mentioned counselling centres will be abolished and a joint counselling centre will be created. This reduces duplicate structures and leads to optimized advice from a single source.

The Senior Citizens' and Care Centres in Lower Saxony offer citizens and their relatives advice on all topics relevant to the elderly and on questions of care.

Care counselling in the narrower sense in accordance with §§ 7 and 7a of the Social Code – Eleventh Book (SGB XI) by the nursing care insurance funds remains unchanged.

In addition, the Lower Saxony Senior Citizens' and Care Centres are building up a local network of volunteer, neighbourly and professional providers. In addition, they act as a driving force for the development of innovative offers for the target groups. The potential of older people will continue to be strengthened and used, and their independence and quality of life will be preserved and promoted.

What else should I know?

The "DUO" qualification programme is an important area of responsibility for the senior citizens' and nursing homes in Lower Saxony. The qualification of the volunteer senior companions takes place under the umbrella of the Volunteer Academy of Lower Saxony. The Senior Citizens' and Care Centres in Lower Saxony mediate the assignments of the volunteer senior companions.

The "DUO" programme essentially covers the everyday support of senior citizens and is to be distinguished from the low-threshold care and relief services according to §§ 45b and c of the Social Code – Eleventh Book (SBG XI). Please refer to the information there.
