Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Maintenance for conscripts and members of their families


Voluntary military service providers (FWDL) are granted benefits under the Maintenance Security Act (USG) upon application. Under certain conditions, they are reimbursed for the expenses for rent, loan interest and operating costs for the owner-occupied housing.

For voluntary conscripts, the following benefits may be granted under the Maintenance Security Act (USG):

  • Reimbursement of expenses for living space according to § 13 USG
  • Economic aid pursuant to § 14 USG
  • Benefits for relatives in the common household according to § 17 USG
  • Benefit for initial equipment at birth according to § 18 USG
  • Special donation according to § 19 USG
  • Reimbursement of contributions to health and long-term care insurance according to § 20 USG
  • Bridging grant according to § 21 USG
  • Benefits for relatives not living in the same household according to § 22 USG
  • Other benefits according to § 15 USG

Benefits under the Maintenance Security Act (USG) are granted upon application. The right to apply ends at the end of the third month after the end of voluntary military service. Exceptions for longer application deadlines may apply to § 13 USG and § 22 USG.
