Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Applications / forms

The officially prescribed forms must be used. The official forms as well as for the individual documents to be submitted as part of a building application are available from the competent authority as well as the municipality, joint municipality or city.

Which documents are required?

The building application must be accompanied by all the building documents required for assessment and processing. These must be signed by a draftsman who is authorised to submit building documents. The building application must be signed by the client and the draftsman.

What are the fees?

Fees are charged in accordance with the Ordinance on Fees and Expenses for Official Acts of the Building Inspectorate (BauGO). These depend on the respective building requirement. Please contact the competent authority.

Process flow

The application documents must be submitted to the municipality, the joint municipality and the city of the construction site, which will issue an opinion on the construction project as part of the application process and forward it to the competent authority.

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

If construction takes place at a later date, an extension of the building permit must be requested in writing before the deadline. This also applies if the construction work has been interrupted for more than three years.

What else should I know?

For the demolition or removal of a high-rise building or a part of a building not mentioned in the appendix, a demolition notification is required in accordance with § 60 (3) of the Lower Saxony Building Code (NBauO). For the construction facilities mentioned in § 62 NBauO, a notification of a construction measure without a permit in accordance with § 62 NBauO must be submitted under the conditions specified therein. In individual cases, the competent authority will provide advice.
