Burial place: Permit - to create/expand
The creation and expansion of a burial ground as well as the reoccupation of a closed burial ground is reserved for the cemetery owners.
The sponsors can commission (private) third parties to carry out the construction and operation of the cemetery.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the municipality, the church, the parish and the association of parishes as well as other religious communities and philosophical communities if they are corporations, institutions or foundations under public law.

What else should I know?
The permission for the further burial of corpses and urns provided for in the transitional provision of § 19 (1) of the Act on Mortuary, Funeral and Cemeteries (BestattG) applies only to private burial places that were already available on 01.01.2006. It is therefore not possible to create new private burial grounds.
Appeal
An administrative court action for an obligation or an action for performance may be considered against the refusal of an assignment. In the case of a civil law structure, legal recourse to the ordinary courts is given.
