Educational aids
The upbringing and care of a child is primarily carried out by the parents. Sometimes, however, additional assistance from the state may be necessary in education.
Although the assistance is granted to the parents, it is based on the interests of the child or young person. This means that the child or adolescent must be involved in the decisions concerning him/her. Among other things, the following are offered:
- Educational counselling,
- social group work,
- educational assistance,
- Care assistant,
- socio-educational family support,
- Education in a day group,
- full-time care,
- home education and other forms of assisted living, or
- intensive socio-pedagogical individual care.
In addition, the Youth Welfare Office decides on the granting of integration assistance and assistance for young adults and common forms of housing for mothers/fathers and children.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the district and the district-free city. These provide assistance through the Youth Welfare Office. An overview can also be found on the websites of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Jugendämter der Länder Niedersachsen und Bremen (AGJÄ ).
