Adult evening classes
Adult education centers (VHS) are public adult education institutions at local authority level.
Adult education centers act on a public mandate and are not subject to ideological or commercial interests. As an independent part of the education system, they cooperate with a wide variety of providers in order to combine the content of their courses with the aims of adult education and in this sense make an important contribution to the social, intellectual and cultural development of citizens.
The 62 adult education centers in Lower Saxony offer a comprehensive range of general, political, cultural and vocational education in the form of lectures, courses, seminars, workshops, study groups, discussion groups etc. for general or further education. The VHS education program covers the basic areas of vocational qualifications, preparation for school-leaving qualifications, history, politics, psychology, philosophy, art, regional and local studies, science, technology, arts and crafts, languages, home economics and health education.
Information or links to the program of your regional VHS can usually be found on the website of your city or district.
