Help for young adults
The help for young adults includes different benefits. It is both an independent help for 18 to 21-year-olds as well as a continuation aid for over 21-year-olds and the aftercare.
As a rule, assistance is granted only up to the age of 21; in justified individual cases, it should be continued for a limited period of time.
Assistance is granted if, due to the individual situation of the young person, it is necessary as an aid for personal development and for independent living. Individual situations in which a youth welfare service according to § 41 SGB VIII is required can result from a lack of competence to shape an independent lifestyle. This can be caused by both individual impairments and social disadvantages.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the youth welfare office of the district or the independent city.
