Pension scheme
In order to be able to enjoy retirement life right from the start, i.e. from the beginning of the pension entitlement, it is important to take care of the application for the pension in good time, because benefits of the statutory pension insurance are generally only granted upon application .
Applications are received by various bodies, which also provide the necessary forms and offer assistance.

Documents may be required. Please contact the competent authority.
What are the fees?
The inclusion of pension applications and the associated support in filling out and supplementing the application forms are free of charge.
What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?
The start of a pension depends on a timely application. Therefore, it may be appropriate to first submit the application informally - e.g. by telephone or e-mail - in order to meet any deadline and to achieve the earliest possible start of retirement. In any case, you must submit the completed application forms and the additional required documents immediately.
What else should I know?
Until now, a pension has been paid from the age of 65 (standard retirement age). Since 2012, the age limit has been raised to 67 in small steps. Further information can be found on the Internet on the website of the German Pension Insurance.
Supporting institutions
The insured elders (volunteers) as well as the district and the independent cities provide the necessary application forms, offer help in filling out the forms and compiling the necessary documents.
Applications can be submitted to all other social service providers (e.g. health insurance company, employment agency) as well as abroad to the official representations of the Federal Republic of Germany. All these offices are obliged to forward your application to the German Pension Insurance immediately.
