Full-time and voluntary housing advice
The NIEDERSACHSENBÜRO Neues Wohnen im Alter supports districts, cities, municipalities and private interested parties in developing offers and projects that enable older people to live longer independently, self-determined and socially integrated in old age.
Local housing advice in Lower Saxony is carried out by qualified full-time and voluntary housing consultants. In almost all districts and independent cities there are offers.
The NIEDERSACHSENBÜRO Neues Wohnen im Alter supports and advises
- in the development and further development of voluntary and full-time housing advisory services as well as in the implementation of barrier-free construction projects,
- in the initiation of new forms of housing such as communal housing projects and new forms of residential care in the neighbourhood and in the village as well as binding neighbourhoods,
- in the promotion of self-help potentials and civic engagement in housing counselling and in the initiated projects.
The possibilities of redesigning the apartment in an age-appropriate manner even with simple means and who can support this is described in the following brochure: "Living in old age - preferably at home" of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Equality.

What else should I know?
Since 2008, the NIEDERSACHSENBÜRO has been committed to new housing concepts throughout Lower Saxony to strengthen cities and villages: for the longest possible stay in the familiar living environment, even in the case of care and help. Neighbourhoods are strengthened, self-determined, communal forms of living form the basis for civic engagement, for housing construction and for infrastructure impulses such as doctors' surgeries and village meeting places.
New housing concepts strengthen neighbourhoods and villages by unfolding the potential of the "we" - even in the case of age-related restrictions, illness or disability.
The Lower Saxony Office informs, advises and accompanies project initiatives in Lower Saxony, but also municipalities, the housing industry and other actors:
