Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Reduction of points in the driving aptitude register

You can reduce your points by attending a driving fitness seminar. The driving fitness seminar consists of educational and psychological elements. If you have between 1 and 5 points, you can attend a driving fitness seminar voluntarily. This allows you to reduce 1 point once within 5 years.

If you have 6 to 7 points, you can also attend the driving aptitude seminar voluntarily, but without a deduction of points.

The fitness to drive seminar is intended to clarify the causes of the deficiencies and show you ways to rectify them. The result of the consultation is only intended for the person concerned and is only communicated to them. However, the person concerned will receive a certificate of attendance for submission to the competent authority.

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

Points entered in the register from 01.05.2014 will be deleted after the following period. This depends on the severity of the offense:

  • Administrative offenses (serious offenses): 2.5 years
  • Administrative offenses (particularly serious offenses): 5 years
  • Criminal offenses without disqualification from driving: 5 years
  • Offenses with disqualification from driving: 10 years

The period begins when the decision becomes legally binding. Transitional regulations apply to points entered before 01.05.2014.
