Pet Ownership: Notification – Specially Protected Species
Anyone who keeps vertebrates of specially protected species as pets must report arrivals and departures from the beginning of the keeping.
The specially protected species include, for example, monkeys, parrots, tortoises and giant snakes, but also various species of lizards such as e.g. Day geckos and chameleons. In addition, all European bird species are also included.

Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation (NLWKN).
