Show birth of a child on a German seagoing vessel
If a child is born during a voyage on a seagoing vessel that is entitled to fly the German flag, there is an obligation to report the birth to Registry Office I in Berlin. The parent with custody must report the birth to the skipper. If the parents are unable to do so, any other person who was present at the birth is also obliged to report the birth.

Requirements
A child was born on a seagoing vessel flying the German flag
Those obliged to register (regardless of the nationality of the parents or the child) are
the custodial parent and any other person who was present at the birth if the parents are unable to attend
The notification is made to the skipper of the ship, who forwards it to the registry office I in Berlin.
Which documents are required?
for parents who are married to each other
Birth certificates of the parents, if necessary with translation, legalization or apostille
Marriage certificate or a certified printout from the marriage register, if necessary with translation, legalization or apostille
for parents who are not married to each other
Birth certificate of the mother, if necessary with translation, legalization or apostille
if paternity has already been recognized:
Declaration of acknowledgment of paternity and the mother's declaration of consent
Birth certificate of the father
if applicable, the declaration of custody
all with translation, legalization or apostille if necessary
Identity card, passport or a recognized passport replacement document of the parents
A marriage certificate and proof of dissolution of marriage must also be submitted if the marriage has since been dissolved or the husband has died within 300 days prior to the birth of the child.
What are the fees?
Fees are charged for issuing a birth certificate in accordance with Berlin state law. Currently, one certificate costs 12 euros, each additional certificate of the same type ordered at the same time costs 6 euros.
Notarization in the register of births at Registry Office I in Berlin is free of charge.
Process flow
The custodial parent or, if unable to do so, another person who was present at the birth, shall report the birth to the skipper.
The skipper takes a transcript and forwards the birth notification to the registry office I in Berlin.
The required documents should be attached or submitted to the Registry Office I in Berlin at the next opportunity.
Registration in the register of births takes place at Registry Office I in Berlin.
