Agri-Environmental Measures (AUM) Funding
Through the promotion of certain agri-environmental measures
- provide additional incentives for the conservation of the cultural landscape and natural resources (including soils).
- The aim is to reduce harmful influences on the water balance and to protect drinking water as a resource. In particular, an impairment of groundwater by nitrate or plant treatment and pest control products is to be counteracted.
- the aim is to protect and improve the environment, genetic diversity and biodiversity.
The funding is financed by the European Union and partly by the federal government.
The agri-environmental measures offered are part of the Lower Saxony/Bremen Programme for Rural Development (PFEIL) and were approved by the EU Commission in May 2015.
The offer is aimed at all farmers and land managers - participation is voluntary.

A registration number (central company number) is required for funding.
Applications / forms
The required paper forms are available on the SLA website.
However, they can also be controlled via the "Print" menu item in ANDI.
Which documents are required?
Applications will be submitted digitally from 2019 onwards. Paper documents are only required in individual cases and are named in the application and offered for download there or can be obtained from the responsible licensing office of the Chamber of Agriculture.
What are the fees?
No fees are charged for the submission of applications.
If the application is made with the assistance of a counselling institution, fees may apply. The respective fee rates can be inquired about there.
Process flow
Applications for participation in the agri-environmental measures can be submitted to the approval offices of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture by 15.05 of the respective application year. This is a cut-off date – applications received later must be rejected, except in cases of force majeure.
The AUM main application must be submitted together with the collective application for agricultural support and agri-environmental measures via the ANDI programme (Agrarförderung Niedersachsen Digital).
In addition to the main application, the annex to the respective funding measure and, if applicable, the application must be submitted. to submit further documents (involvement of the TSOs, area allocation table, etc.). In the case of location-specific support measures (obligation is on the same area over the entire period), the areas must already be marked in the area overview of the collective application in the year of application.
For all applications, a de minimis limit of 250 euros per application and funding measure applies.
Initial application (E): for a 5-year commitment period
Follow-up application (F): for the remaining term of the existing obligation (at least 2 years – except for BV1: here at least 1 year),
1. additional land (up to 50% of the existing commitment)
2. additional management conditions or application for adjustment for the remaining term (e.g. BS11 → BS12)
New application (N): for a 5-year commitment period in the event of an increase in area above 50% of the existing commitment
What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?
The application deadline is 15.5. of the respective application year.
The following applies to this date: if it falls on a public holiday, a Saturday or Sunday, it is placed on the first following working day.
