Applying for an exemption from the permit requirement for the discharge of wastewater into private wastewater treatment plants
If you want to discharge wastewater into a private wastewater treatment plant, you can be exempted from the permit requirement for wastewater discharge under certain conditions.
For certain sectors and activities (such as the chemical industry, paper production, metal processing, cooling water utilisation), pollutants are to be expected in wastewater that are not sufficiently purified in a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Requirements for this are set out in the sector-specific annexes to the Wastewater Ordinance.
In order to comply with these requirements, special measures and wastewater pre-treatment plants are required to reduce the pollutant load in such a way that the wastewater can then be treated safely in a public or private wastewater treatment plant.
Requirements
You can be exempted from the permit requirement for the discharge of wastewater into a private wastewater treatment plant if you ensure compliance with the legal requirements through a contract with the operator of the private wastewater plant.
Which documents are required?
The required documentation depends on the wastewater (industrial wastewater, commercial wastewater) that is to be discharged into the private wastewater plant.
- Application
- Contractual arrangements between the discharger of the wastewater and the operator of the private wastewater treatment plant
What are the fees?
The costs for the exemption from the permit requirement are based on No. 96.1.17.3 of the Annex to the General Schedule of Fees (AllGO).
