Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Applying for an exemption from the obligation to wear a seatbelt and helmet

In order to protect road users, the legislator has stipulated that seat belts must be worn while driving and that safety helmets must be worn when driving motorcycles.

However, it is possible to be exempted from this obligation on request. The resulting considerable safety risk is borne by the applicant.

Exemption from the obligation to wear a seat belt is possible,

  • if it is not possible to wear seat belts for health reasons.
  • if the height of the applicant is less than 150 cm.

Exemption from the obligation to wear a helmet is possible,

  • if it is not possible to wear a safety helmet for health reasons.

Which documents are required?

If the requirements for an exemption are of a medical nature, a medical or specialist certificate must be submitted stating that the exemption to be applied for is absolutely necessary for medical reasons. The certificate does not need to include a diagnosis.
A medical certificate with the measured height must also be provided for those under 150 cm tall.

What are the fees?

The decision is free of charge for severely disabled persons.

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

The exemption is revocable and granted for a limited period of one year - unless the medical certificate states that the exemption must be granted indefinitely as the state of health will no longer improve.
