Adult evening classes
Colleges (VHS) are public institutions of adult education at municipal level.
The adult education centres act on a public mission and are not subject to ideological or commercial interests. As an independent part of the education system, they cooperate with a wide variety of institutions in order to combine the content orientation of their offers with the goals of adult education and, in this sense, make a significant contribution to the social, intellectual and cultural development of citizens.
The 62 adult education centres in Lower Saxony offer a comprehensive range of general, political, cultural and vocational education in the form of lectures, courses, seminars, workshops, working groups, discussion groups, etc. for general or further education. The VHS educational offer includes the basic areas of vocational qualification, preparation for school leaving certificates, history, politics, psychology, philosophy, art, regional and local history, natural sciences, technology, artistic and craft design, languages, home economics and health education.
