Applying for an international driving license
International driving licenses are required for temporary stays in a country that does not belong to the EU. The international driving license is only a translation of the national EU driving license and is therefore only valid in conjunction with it.

Requirements
- The applicant's normal place of residence must be in the Federal Republic of Germany and within the jurisdiction of the issuing authority
- have reached the age of 18
- Possession of an EU driving license or an EU/EEA driving license
Which documents are required?
- Identity card or passport with registration certificate
- No registration certificate is required if the identity card is presented
- Presentation of the card driver's license
- a photograph (biometric) that complies with the provisions of the Passport Ordinance of October 19, 2007 (BGBl. I p. 2007, 2386)

The fees are set by the respective authority according to its fee schedule.
Process flow
You must submit the application in person and in writing.
What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?
The international driving license is usually valid for 3 years.
