Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Passport Issuance of additional passports

In principle, only one valid passport is issued for each citizen.

However, if proof of a legitimate interest can be provided, additional passports valid at the same time can be issued.

Which documents are required?

  • up-to-date biometric-compatible photograph, in passport format (45 x 35 mm) in portrait format, frontal shot without border, without headgear and without covering the eyes
  • previous passport
  • Proof of the need for a second passport, e.g. certificate from the employer of frequent trips abroad or travel confirmation for travel to certain countries

Requirements

  • People who travel abroad a lot for work and whose passport often has to be handed in at the embassy of the destination country for a longer period of time in order to obtain visas.
  • Travelers to Israel if there are already visas from Arab states in their passport.

Process flow

The applicant must present themselves in person to apply for the passport (e-passport). The application will be filled out on site with the processor. All the applicant has to do is sign.

What else should I know?

The passport cannot be taken with you immediately after the application has been submitted, as it is produced at the Federal Printing Office in Berlin. If the passport is needed earlier, an express pass can be requested.

Who should I contact?

The responsibility lies with the municipality, the joint municipality and the city in which the main residence is.
