Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Driving licence: entry - of points in the register of fitness to drive

From 01.05.2014 the following regulations apply to the entry of points:

  • 1 point: Administrative offences
  • 2 points: gross administrative offences with a regular driving ban and criminal offences
  • 3 points: Offences involving withdrawal of driving licence

Points according to the regulation valid until 30.04.2014 are converted as follows:

  • 0 points = 0 points
  • 1-3 points = 1 point
  • 4-5 points = 2 points
  • 6-7 points = 3 points
  • 8-10 points = 4 points
  • 11-13 points = 5 points
  • 14-15 points = 6 points
  • 16-17 points = 7 points
  • 18 or more points = 8 points

In order to protect against dangers posed by drivers or keepers who repeatedly violate traffic regulations, the competent authority must take appropriate measures according to the points system.

Admonition or warning according to the driving fitness register

Process flow

The procedure depends on your score.

  • With a score of 1 to 3 , the reservation is made without further action.
  • With a score of 4 to 5 , the admonition and a reference to a driving fitness seminar are issued in order to improve traffic behaviour. Anyone who attends a driving fitness seminar voluntarily can reduce 1 point in accordance with § 4 paragraph 5 of the Road Traffic Act (StVG).
  • A score of 6 to 7 will result in a warning.
  • With a score of 8 points , the driving license will be revoked .

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

After the withdrawal of the driving licence on the basis of the If the number of points in the register of fitness to drive, a new driving licence may be issued at the earliest 6 months after the withdrawal has taken effect. The period begins with the delivery of the driver's license. In order to prove that fitness to drive motor vehicles has been restored, it is usually ordered to provide an expert opinion from an officially recognised assessment centre for fitness to drive.

What else should I know?

Road users who have become conspicuous in road traffic are registered in the register of fitness to drive. Information from this register shall be provided only to authorised bodies and to the persons concerned themselves.
