Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Apply for extension of residence permit for recognition of professional qualification on the basis of an agreement of the Federal Employment Agency

You have a residence permit for the recognition of your foreign professional qualification and have been placed in employment on the basis of an agreement between the Federal Employment Agency and the employment services in your country of origin.

If the recognition has not yet been completed, you can apply to extend your residence permit.

To do so, you must meet the same requirements as when you first applied, including ensuring that you can support yourself during the extension period. The Federal Employment Agency must also approve your employment. It will only approve this if you pursue the recognition procedure with the competent authority.

If your residence permit is extended, it is again limited in time. The residence permit for the recognition of professional qualifications based on an agreement with the Federal Employment Agency will be extended by 1 year at a time up to a maximum of 3 years.

You may also work up to 20 hours a week on the side with an extended residence permit

Sie sollten die Aufenthaltserlaubnis spätestens 8 Wochen vor Ablauf Ihrer noch gültigen Aufenthaltserlaubnis beantragen.

Objection Deadline: 1 Month
