Slaughter: Implementation - official ante-mortem inspection
If you slaughter animals whose meat is intended for human consumption, you must have the animals officially inspected before and after slaughter. This concerns:
- Cattle
- Pigs
- Sheep
- Goats
- horses and other ungulates,
- Poultry
- shall not apply in the case of the supply of meat of no more than 10,000 head per year of poultry slaughtered annually on their own farm directly to consumers or to local retail establishments for direct supply to consumers,
- Lagomorphs
- does not apply in the case of the supply of meat of a maximum of 10,000 head per year slaughtered on the farm's own farm directly to consumers or to local retail establishments for direct supply to consumers,
- Farmed game.
The obligation to inspect also applies to domestic slaughter.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the districts, independent cities and municipalities with public slaughterhouses.

What are the fees?
Fees may apply, please contact the competent authority.
What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?
Slaughter must be notified to the competent authority in good time (at least 24 hours in advance).
Emergency slaughter is to be considered separately from this, in any case the competent authority must be involved immediately.
What else should I know?
Commercial slaughter may only be carried out in officially approved establishments.
