Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Repatriation costs for deceased in statutory accident insurance recovered


In the event of accidents, insured persons under statutory accident insurance may die away from their place of residence.

In the event of death as a result of an insured event under statutory accident insurance, the employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds reimburse the costs of transporting the deceased to his or her former place of residence. Occupational, commuting and school accidents as well as recognized occupational diseases are considered insured events.

If you have paid for such a repatriation, you will get your money back. The employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds will check on their own initiative whether you are entitled to reimbursement. An application is therefore not necessary.

Which documents are required?

  • Proof of payment and amount of transfer costs (for example, the invoice).

Requirements

You will be reimbursed for repatriation costs if:

  • the death is the result of an insured event under statutory accident insurance,
  • reimbursable repatriation costs have actually been incurred,
  • the death did not occur at the place of the insured person's permanent family residence,
  • the insured person was staying there for reasons connected with the insured activity or with the consequences of the insured event
  • and you have paid the transportation costs.

What are the fees?

There are no costs for you.

Process flow

You do not have to apply for reimbursement of the transfer costs. The entitlement to reimbursement is examined ex officio by the responsible employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund.

  • The employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund will inform the possible beneficiaries known to it to enable them to file the claim.

Nevertheless, you can contact the responsible Berufsgenossenschaft or Unfallkasse online or by mail.

Online service:

  • Call up the online service.
  • You will be guided through the process on the accident insurance service portal.
  • You can log in.
    • If you would like to receive the response from your employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund in the mailbox of your BundID account or My Company Account, you must have an account and authenticate yourself.
    • If you would like to receive the response by mail, you can also proceed without logging in.
  • Select your responsible employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund or determine it using the industry search.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Fill out the online form and submit it.
  • Your report will be automatically forwarded to your accident insurance provider.
  • You will receive a response via the requested channel.

Online service of your employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund:

  • If you have access to the portal of your employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund, you can also submit the report electronically there, if necessary.

Reporting by mail:

  • Send an informal letter to your employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund.
  • Make sure you provide the required information and enclose the necessary documents.
