Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Relief amount for costs of additional care services for persons insured for long-term care


People in need of home care are entitled to a relief amount of up to 125 euros per month (i.e. a total of up to 1,500 euros per year). The amount is earmarked for quality-assured services to relieve the burden on care-giving relatives and to promote the independence and self-determination of those in need of care in organising their everyday lives.

If the monthly benefit amount has not been fully exhausted in a calendar month, the remaining amount is carried over to the following calendar months. Benefit amounts that have not been used up at the end of the calendar year can still be carried over until the end of the following calendar half-year.

The amount can be used for

  • Benefits for day or night care,
  • short-term care services,
  • services provided by approved care services (but not for self-care services in care grades 2 to 5), or
  • services of the offers for the support in everyday life recognized according to the law of the Land.

Which documents are required?

In order to obtain reimbursement for the expenses incurred, receipts must be submitted to the long-term care insurance fund or the private insurance company with which the person in need of long-term care is insured. The documents submitted and the application for reimbursement of the costs must show

  • in connection with which of the above-mentioned benefits (benefits of day or night care, benefits of short-term care, benefits of outpatient care services or / and benefits of offers for support in everyday life recognised under Land law) the person in need of care has incurred personal expenses and
  • to what extent the costs incurred for this are to be reimbursed from the relief amount.

As far as day or night care or short-term care is concerned, it is the practice of the long-term care insurance funds that cost shares for accommodation and meals incurred in connection with these services can also be reimbursed from the relief amount.

Please ask your long-term care insurance fund which documents are required and whether there is a special application form.
