A registration number (central operating number) is required for funding.

Support can only be granted if:

• the farm is managed by the applicant himself.
• the animals requested are kept in Lower Saxony.
• the measures are carried out voluntarily (no comparable obligation under legal requirements or other funding such as AFP).
• compliance with cross-compliance requirements throughout the entire operation.
• the funding exceeds EUR 500 (minimum limit).

There is no entitlement to the grant, but the granting authority decides on the basis of its dutiful discretion within the limits of the available budgetary resources.

If the budget is not sufficient for the granting of all new applications, an order of authorisation shall be established, which may take into account in particular the following points:

• the assessment of the attitude with regard to its contribution to animal welfare (for fattening pigs and piglets, these are the specific criteria for improving animal welfare);
• the application for follow-up support (maintaining the support measure) if the funding measure was successfully implemented in the previous year.

The commitment period for the grant is one year and starts on 1.12. of each year.

If, during the commitment period, the holding or establishment in which the animals are kept is transferred to another person, the undertaking entered into must be assumed by the transferee and further complied with. The transfer must be notified to the licensing authority with a separate form (will be supplemented) before the transition. Upon recognition of the transfer, the grant shall be paid to the applicant.
