Interest-free loan in accordance with Section 3 of the Family Care Time Act Grant

Employees who take leave to care for a relative are legally entitled to an interest-free loan.

The loan is intended to help alleviate the loss of earnings caused by the reduction in earned income

It is paid out in monthly instalments and must also be repaid in instalments after the end of the exemption.

Monthly loan instalments are granted in the amount of half the difference between the flat-rate monthly net charges before and during the exemption.

The monthly gross remuneration is determined exclusively for the remuneration in kind for the last 12 months. One-off payments and other remuneration (such as holiday allowances or bonuses) are taken into account in the calculation.

Even with a full exemption, the calculation of the loan is based on a 15-hour period of employment. Therefore, the loan replaces a maximum of half of the difference between the notional income of 15 hours per week.

The loan instalments are paid out in cash at the beginning for the calendar month in which the eligibility conditions are met.

It is also possible to apply for a lower loan - up to a minimum of EUR 50 per month.

The loan must be used primarily before receiving means-related social benefits. In calculating social benefits, the loan must be taken into account as income.
