The following data are documented in the birth register:

• the first and surnames of the child,
• place, day and hour of birth and the sex of the child,
• the first and family names of the parents
• at the request of a parent, his legal affiliation to a religious community which is a body governed by public law.

The mother of the child is the woman who gave birth to the child.

The father of the child is the husband of a married mother. If the child is born after the death of the husband, that man shall be deemed to be the father, provided that the birth took place within 300 days of his death. If the mother is divorced and the child is born after the final judgment of the divorce, the former husband is not considered to be the father of the child.

If the mother is not married at the time of birth, a man can only be registered as a father at the time of birth if he has already recognised paternity. Otherwise, the competent authority shall subsequently enter the father in the birth register.
