Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Apply for permission to use the professional title of physiotherapist

The profession of physiotherapistis regulated in Germany.

Requirements

Permission is granted if you

  • have completed the vocational or higher education training prescribed by this Act and have passed the state final examination
  • have not been guilty of any conduct that makes you unreliable to practice the profession,
  • are not unfit in terms of health to practise the profession
  • have the necessary knowledge of the German language to practise the profession

Which documents are required?

You will need the following documents to process the application:

  • Proof of the state examination certificate, to confirm that the training period prescribed by the respective law has been completed and the state examination has been passed or the notification of the determination of equivalence of the foreign professional qualification
  • Criminal and professional law declaration
  • Proof of reliability; this is the confirmation that you have not been guilty of any behavior that would make you unreliable to practice the profession. This can be done by submitting an official certificate of good conduct for submission to the authorities, not older than 3 months at the time the permit is issued.
  • Medical certificate stating that you are not unfit to exercise the profession in terms of health
  • Confirmation that you have the necessary knowledge of the German language to exercise the profession

What are the fees?

Is based on the respective administrative fee schedule of the federal state or on the fee statutes of the authorities responsible under federal state law.

Process flow

You must apply for the permit from the competent authority.

Once you have submitted the application and all documents are complete, the competent authority will check whether you meet all the requirements.

If you meet all the requirements, you will receive the permit.

You may only start working once you have received the permit.

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

There are no deadlines to be observed.

Processing duration

If the documents are complete, your application will be processed promptly.
