Testing centres for installations for the use of non-ionised radiation outside medicine: Announcement

The provisions of the Act on Protection against Non-Ionising Radiation for Use on Humans (NiSG) and the Concretising UV Protection Ordinance (UVSV) serve to reduce health risks posed by artificial UV radiation.

In order to monitor compliance with the regulations, the competent authority can inspect non-medical installations (e.g. solariums) or their operation.
As part of this monitoring, the competent authority may also order that an installation be inspected by a body notified by a competent authority under national law.

The notification of such a verifier shall be made at its request to the competent authority. The announcement applies to the entire federal territory.

The decision on the application is made by the competent authority of the country in which the applicant has his or her place of business.

Who should I contact?

The responsibility lies with the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Equality.

This procedure can also be handled by a "Point of Single Contact". The "Point of Single Contact" is a special service offered by the municipalities and the state for service providers.

  • Proof of expertise, independence, reliability and technical equipment

What are the fees?

The amount of the fees is determined - in accordance with Annex 1 to § 1 paragraph 1 of the General Fee Schedule of the State of Lower Saxony No. 84.4.3 - depending on the time spent. However, a minimum of EUR 120.00 and a maximum of EUR 700.00 will be charged.

What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?

The competent authority must take a decision on the application within a period of three months after receipt of the complete application documents. The disclosure may be subject to a time limit and conditions.
