Anyone wishing to practise a craft subject to authorisation as a business owner without fulfilling the requirements for registration as a register of craftsmen must appoint a manager who fulfils these requirements.
The appointment of the farm manager must be notified to the competent authority so that it can verify that the registration requirements are actually fulfilled.
In cases of hardship, e.g. in the case of continuation of the business after the death of the owner or the owner, the competent authority may set a reasonable deadline for the appointment if proper management of the business is guaranteed.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the Chamber of Crafts (HWK), in whose chamber district the company has its headquarters.
This procedure can also be carried out through a "Point of Single Contact". The "Point of Single Contact" is a special service offered by municipalities and the state for service providers.
Which documents are required?
- Plant manager's declaration
- Copy of the manager's employment contract
- Proof of qualification of the plant manager (copy of master craftsman's certificate, technical certificate, exemption, etc.)
- If applicable, confirmation of registration from the collection office (health insurance fund) about the registration of the employee

What else should I know?
The competent authorities may inform each other whether the manager fulfils the conditions for entry on the register of craftsmen and whether he or she is properly performing his or her duties.
