Competence test for mediating and advising insurance companies Certificate
After successfully passing an examination to prove the necessary expertise of insurance intermediaries and insurance advisors before the competent authority, the competent authority then issues a certificate.
Who should I contact?
The responsibility lies with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
This procedure can also be carried out through a "Point of Single Contact". The "Point of Single Contact" is a special service offered by municipalities and the state for service providers.

Process flow
The competence test consists of a written and a practical part of the examination.
The written part of the examination extends in particular to the subject areas:
- Fundamentals of insurance
- Social security framework conditions as well as the main features of state- and company-sponsored old-age provision
- Legal basis for insurance mediation and insurance advice
For the practical part of the examination, the candidate can choose between the following two subject areas:
- Provision
- Property and property insurance
