Which place to enter?

The location is used to determine the responsible office for the selected administrative service. In most cases you can enter your place of residence to find the competent authority. However, there are also cases in which a different location must be specified. Here are some examples:

Birth certificateYou want to get married and need a birth certificate. You live in Hanover, but you were born in Celle. You must therefore state your place of birth, i.e. Celle.

Business registrationYou would like to register a business in Braunschweig. Your place of residence is Hanover. You must therefore state the location of your future business, i.e. Braunschweig.

Apply for a building permitYou would like to build a house in Wunstorf and therefore apply for a building permit. Her place of residence is currently Hanover. You must indicate the place where the house is to be built. In this case it is Wunstorf.

Admission of a European Lawyer to the Bar Association Decision as an in-house lawyer


Anyone who has been admitted as a European lawyer upon application to the bar association responsible for the place of his/her place of establishment is entitled to practise as an in-house lawyer in Germany.

Who should I contact?

The jurisdiction lies with the Bar Association.

This procedure can also be carried out through a "Point of Single Contact". The "Point of Single Contact" is a special service offered by municipalities and the state for service providers.

Requirements

Admission to the Bar Association requires that the applicant is registered as a European lawyer with the competent authority of the home country.

Which documents are required?

  • Certificate from the competent authority in the home country of affiliation to the profession of European lawyer, which is not older than 3 months and which is accompanied by a certified translation in accordance with § 3 paragraph 2 of the Act on the Activities of European Lawyers in Germany (EuRAG),
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Proof of nationality pursuant to § 3 paragraph 1 of the Act on the Activities of European Lawyers in Germany (EuRAG),
  • if applicable, certified copy of the doctoral certificate or further evidence of the acquisition of academic degrees,
  • a copy or a certified copy of the employment contract or contracts;
  • job description signed by the employer and the applicant,
  • the competent body may require the submission of further evidence

What are the fees?

Fees are charged in accordance with § 39 of the Act on the Activities of European Lawyers in Germany (EuRAG) and § 192 of the Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO) in conjunction with the fee regulations of the competent authority.
