Duty of law firm according to the Federal Lawyers' Act Exemption
In the interest of the administration of justice or to avoid hardship, the competent authority may exempt a lawyer from the law firm obligation according to § 29 Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (BRAO).

This procedure can also be carried out through a "Point of Single Contact". The "Point of Single Contact" is a special service offered by municipalities and the state for service providers.
Requirements
- Citing a reason for exemption. Examples include:
- Illness
- Old age
- Further training abroad
- Establishment of a law firm exclusively in another state – unless overriding interests of the administration of justice conflict with the administration of justice
