Test engineers for structural analysis: Recognition
A test engineer for stability is a person who is recognized as such by the competent authority. Other persons may not use this designation. In order to be recognized as a test engineer for structural stability, the applicant must undergo a comprehensive examination of his/her knowledge and skills.
The recognition of a test engineer for structural stability is granted for one or more of the following disciplines:
- Solid construction
- metal construction
- timber construction
Who should I contact?
The Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digitalization is responsible for this.
This procedure can also be handled by a "Single Point of Contact". The "Single Point of Contact" is a special service offered by the municipalities and the state for service providers.
Requirements
To be admitted to this examination, the following conditions must be met:
- at least 10 years of experience in the preparation of stability certificates
- at least 1 year's experience in technical construction management and site supervision
- at least 2 years of independent (i.e. self-employed) work as a structural engineer
or
- activity as a full-time university lecturer (professor)
In addition, proof must be provided that construction projects of a high degree of difficulty have already been completed.

No documents are required.
What are the fees?
Fees are charged in accordance with § 1 Paragraph 1 i. V. m. Annex 1 No. 10. 1 of the Lower Saxony Building Fee Regulations (BauGO).

What else should I know?
An advisory board formed by the competent body decides on the professional suitability of the applicant by means of a written expert opinion.
There is no legal entitlement to recognition. Recognition does not constitute any entitlement to the issuing of test assignments.
